[Travel- D.C.]; DC Cupcakes in Georgetown!

Being in D.C., there seems to be something new to try and a new area to explore every day! I've been out of town the past couple of weekends in NYC but this past weekend I was super excited to finally be back in the Capitol and explore the areas around me. Although yes, it was the 4th, I'm not going to be lame and talk about fireworks like every other person on your timeline/newsfeed/picture stream etc. I decided to actually talk about everyone likes- food!

On Saturday, I decided to take the trek to Georgetown that everyone has been telling me would be SO worth it. So, decked out in Lilly and my best friend by my side, we took the journey!

Getting There

Unfortunately, (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it hehehe...) there is no direct metro stop to Georgetown. Foggy Bottom/GWU stop, however, is a quick 15-ish minute walk from Georgetown though, so we decided to be healthy and take advantage of the beautiful weather. There is also apparently a free shuttle, too, for those not wanting the trek.

Those Cupcakes, Doe

One of the main initial draws for us to go to Georgetown is, I'm not gonna lie, Georgetown Cupcakes. The popular bakery used to have their own show on TLC called DC cupcakes, and ever since watching a few episodes with my mom years ago, I have always had it in the back of my mind to visit. I had heard there is usually a line, but I did not expect the hot 1 hour wait outdoors! It was a holiday weekend though, although when we talked to the worker letting people inside she said it's generally crowded every weekend!

our choices! Coconut, Chocolate Birthday, Red Velvet America, and Key Lime Cheesecake!
(Red velvet was definitely my favorite).

Hope ya'll can enjoy these precious things too! Remember, life's too short to not have some sweets!

But wow- they were definitely worth it! Although you can order online 24 hours in advance and skip the line, I think the first time the line is all part of the experience. Plus, it makes you work (and sweat!) for those cupcakes. And sooner than I knew it, I was experiencing heavenly bliss in the form of a key lime cheesecake cupcake <3 above are some pictures from the day!

**For those of you in the area, each cupcake ran about $3, with a small discount ordered in bulk (half dozen or dozen). I was OBSESSED with the Key Lime Cheesecake (even had a little crust on the bottom), and the red velvet (the one I'm holding in the picture) literally melts in your mouth. I just wish I had tried the salted caramel!
